How did Akbar seek to reduce religious conflict in India?

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

Akbar promoted religious tolerance. He built a house of worship and invited scholars and teachers from various faiths to come and discuss their beliefs. He also decreed the Hindus who had been forced to convert to Islam could convert back without penalty of death. He celebrated Diwali, a Hindu holiday and once traveled to the birthplace of Krishna. He had advisors who practiced Jainism and removed taxes on Jains and their holy places. By the time of his death, several sects claimed him as one of their followers.
