OpenStudy (narissa):
b)would be +
OpenStudy (phi):
I usually think of subtraction as adding the negative of a number
so 8 - 5 is really 8+ -5
OpenStudy (phi):
I am not sure what b) is
it looks like you are multiplying -4* -8
but the question says "rewrite as addition" ?

-4 - (-8)
two minuses make a plus. when you see - -x or -(- x), you get +x
OpenStudy (phi):
but you have posted two different versions : _4+-8
which I assume you mean -4+-8
if that is the problem , then that is the answer: -4 + -8
if it's -4 - -8 then it's -4 + 8
OpenStudy (phi):
yes c is correct
you can also write is -x + -y
without the parens
OpenStudy (narissa):
the question is -4-(-8) i posted the others asking if thats the answer sorry
