The reason why the lung is so successful at oxygenating blood has to do with its surface area + amount of alveoli, so answers A and D should be out of the question. Bronchi are the larger "branches" in a lung, and have no real contact with blood. The real oxygenation begins in the "leaves" which, in this case, are Alveoli. So the answer is c: Reduced rate of gas diffusion between the alveoli and the blood
