Solution to two questions? Ive graphed it and still can't find the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Last 2 questions, whats the solution? Cant seem to figure it out. I know the steps to get the answer just can't get it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 !!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ive already graphed them BTW.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

can you show the graph you have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here's the graph for the first question.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so far so good, where is the region where all graphs overlap?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm getting this

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you shaded the wrong way for the graph of `x+4y >= 12` the shading is above (not below) the boundary line

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

you have to evaluate each inequality/equation's shaded region in order to properly determine all the overlaps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh ok I see what do you think the solution is?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

now plug each vertex point A,B,C into the `f(x,y) = 10,000x+20,000y` function. Look for the min `f(x,y)` value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it C?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

show me what outputs you got

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Am i Right first haha 👀👀👀👀

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You showed me the 3 values you came up with (A,B, and C). I used B and C & it didn't workout so I guessed that A was better. After I used A's values I swapped it with X and Y then chose C

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if you plug in say (x,y) = (1, 5), which is point B shown on the attachment, what is the value of f(x,y) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X= 10,000 Y= 100,000 Together they Equal 110,000

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm getting 110,000 as well how about if you plugged in (x,y) = (4,2) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X=40,000 Y=40,000 Together=80,000

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

got the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ive spent way too much time on this question.. lets move on to the next. Ill just choose C for this one

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what happens when you plug in (x,y) = (1.4736842105, 2.6315789474)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

we only have one more step really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X=14.736842105

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Y=52.631578948

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

67,370 is the final answer... Lets move on

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

when you plug in (x,y) = (1.4736842105, 2.6315789474) you should get approx 67368.42105263 which is very close to 67,370 see the attached image for a table

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay next question, what do you think the solution is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to leave soon, lets go fast please

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I have be leaving in a few minutes too, but I'll be back. Other helpers like @nincompoop can help out

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

*have to be anyways I'll be right back

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nincompoop Help w/ the 2nd question ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nevermind
