Please help with this probability problem. Shown in image below
A bag of marbles contains 12 red marbles, 8 blue marbles, and 5 Green marbles. If three marbles are pulled out find each of the following probabilities. In each we specify either replacement (the marble goes back into the back after each pull) or no replacement. A. Find the probability of pulling the three green marbles out with replacement B. Find the probability of pulling out three red marbles without replacement
I don't understand how to do the problem. I'd appreciate the help. Thank you.
What is the total number of marbles in the bag? @Angel_Kitty12
25
on the first pull, how many marbles are green? out of how many marbles in the bag? on the second pull, how many marbles are green? out of how many marbles in the bag? on the tird pull, how many marbles are green? out of how many marbles in the bag?
25 marbles in the bag. 5 are green. For the first draw from the bag, you have a 5/25 chance of getting a green because there are 25 marbles in the bag and 5 are green. Whatever you get on the first draw, you put it back in the bag and draw again. You want to get a green. Again, the probability for that is 5/25. The same is true of the third draw. Putting that together, the probability of GGG = 5/25 * 5/25 * 5/25 = 1/5 * 1/5 * 1/5 = 1/125. @Angel_Kitty12 See what you can do with part b.
