OpenStudy (anonymous):

really need help

pooja195 (pooja195):

|2x+12|>24 We know eithe r2x+12>24 or 2x+12<−24 2x+12>24(Possibility 1) 2x+12−12>24−12(Subtract 12 from both sides) 2x>12 Divide both sides by 2 what would x equal?

pooja195 (pooja195):

12/2=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6

pooja195 (pooja195):

Good so x=6 2nd one.. 2x+12<−24(Possibility 2) 2x+12−12<−24−12(Subtract 12 from both sides) 2x<−36 -36/2=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-18

pooja195 (pooja195):

good so our 2 answers are x=6 and x=-18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but is it a. x<-18 or x>6 b. x>-18 or x<6

pooja195 (pooja195):

It would be b because we divided by a negative (for the first one) we would flip the sign
