OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

Is there anyone who could help me with math questions on my homework? I is mainly about solving one-step equations. I have looked through some questions but I cant figure some of them out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I probably could whats youre question

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

Well there is a few of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay lets work together whats your first question

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

1.To solve the equation 1/8 = x - 4/5, what operation must be done on both sides of the equal sign? A: add 1/8 B: add 4/5 C:subtract 1/8 D: subtract 4/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so first we need to find oit "x"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to do that

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

No this is new homework that i have no idea about.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so in order to find out x the first step is to find a number that makes the equation truw

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

Is it D?

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

2. Solve m + 1/4 = 3/4. A: m = negative 1/2 B: m = 1/4 C: m = 1/2 D: m = 1

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

Please help!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On number 1 you are close its actually add 4 fifths

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

oh ok.Thanks. How about number 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C. M equals 1 halve

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any more questions?

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

yeah hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think about it like this: If you have a variable (in this case m or x) and a number being added or subtracted to that variable, you would do the opposite to find the variable. So if something is being added to the variable, you would subtract that something from both sides; if something is being subtracted from the variable, you would add that something to both sides.

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

3. Solve for g. 1/12 = g - 5/6 A: g = negative 11/12 B: g = negative 3/4 C: g = 3/4 D: g = 11/12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

😁 if u fan me you can see if im online and send me messages so you can ask questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Crazyelephant? Do you have another question?
