OpenStudy (practice111):

Decide whether the function is an exponential growth or exponential decay function and find the constant percentage rate of growth or decay. (2 points) f(x) = 5.9 ⋅ 1.01x Exponential growth function; 0.01% Exponential decay function; 101% Exponential growth function; 1% Exponential growth function; 101% please help

OpenStudy (daggiemib):

r u in connections?

imqwerty (imqwerty):

f(x)=5.9.x.(101/100) :) u can see that the function will increase by 1% so C

OpenStudy (practice111):

thanks !!

imqwerty (imqwerty):

np

OpenStudy (practice111):

so this one is decay right? Decide whether the function is an exponential growth or exponential decay function and find the constant percentage rate of growth or decay. (2 points) f(x) - 2034 ⋅ 0.9939x Exponential growth function; 0.0061% Exponential decay function; -0.61% Exponential growth function; -0.61% Exponential decay function; 0.0061%

imqwerty (imqwerty):

yes it is a decay function

OpenStudy (practice111):

and for the percentage? like how do i get it?

imqwerty (imqwerty):

ok to get the percentage look at the base which is 0.9939 u can write it as \[\frac{ 99.39 }{ 100 }\] % means what fraction out of 100 here we can see that it is 99.39% so this indicates theres a loss of (100-99.39)%=0.61% so its an exponential decay of 0.61% or u can say exponential growth of -0.61% note that exponential growth in negative terms indicate loss so its C

OpenStudy (practice111):

thank you very much :) @imqwerty

imqwerty (imqwerty):

your welcome (:
