I need help in finding absolute minimum and maximum.. please tell em whats wrong!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is the quetion

OpenStudy (baru):

do you know how to differentiate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 3x^2 +12x -63

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah?

OpenStudy (baru):

yes now use this maxima/minima occur at either boundary points or at points where df/dx=0

OpenStudy (baru):

first can u find points where df/dx=0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=-7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then what ?

OpenStudy (baru):

not just -7, theres one more point

OpenStudy (baru):

df/dx=0 is a quadratic equation, it has two solutions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can we get straight to the answer please... -_- im running out of time TT^TT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 minutes left -.- i give up

OpenStudy (baru):

i can tell you the steps, evaluate f(x) at the points where df/dx=0 evaluate f(x) at all the boundary points: -8,0,-5,4 and see which points are max and min

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i see it later , but thanks anyway

OpenStudy (baru):

:)
