OpenStudy (janu16):

I have one question

OpenStudy (janu16):

Suppose X and Y represent two different school populations where X > Y and X and Y must be greater than 0. Which of the following expressions is the largest? Explain why. Show all work necessary. A. X^2 + Y^2 B. X^2 − Y^2 C. 2(X + Y) D. (X + Y)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Janu16 i would say that it would be the first because when you square both of them and add them together you have a larger number than if you was to subtract (obviously) and it would end up being greater than if you just multiplied the whole by 2 or if you squared them as a whole

The temperature was -20.5°F at 5 A.M. and rose 5 degrees per hour for the next 5 hours. Melissa says the temperature at 10 A.M. was -5.5°F. Which statement identifies Melissa’s error and the correct answer? A. Melissa multiplied incorrectly. The correct answer is -0.5°F. B. Melissa multiplied incorrectly. The correct answer is 9.5°F. C. Melissa added incorrectly. The correct answer is 4.5°F. D. Melissa added incorrectly. The correct answer is 5.5°F.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@MinniMCMiner the answer is D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X^2+Y^2+XY > X^2+Y^2 since X and Y bigger than 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank You!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that one is true as well because you have the extra xy added to it as well @ArifL no problem @MinniMCMiner

OpenStudy (anonymous):
