Help!!! Please!
A. C=0.55P B. C=0.50P
it would cost them $1.10 to ship 2 pounds in the first equation
but how i dont understand?
@imqwerty
Can someone please help? :(
Part A: think it is: c=0.55*p so for two pounds, we have: c=0.55*2=1.10$ PArt B:c=(0.55-0.05)*p so c=0.50*p
hey kaylee
just have to plug in the parts that it says is what like for instance if it would have said that the equation was going to be where each shipment was worth lets say $2.00 then you would put C= P($2.00)
Hey @imqwerty :)
im completely lost :/
ok so to ship 1 pound the company charges $0.55 so 1pound----->$0.55 multiply both sides by p (1x p ) pounds------>$(0.55 x p) p pounds---->$0.55p
don't be lost and feel free to ask if u get stuck somewhere
if u find this kinda solution confusing we can start over with a new approach
ok so lets start from the basics
okay :)
now we need to find the total cost c which the company will take to ship p pounds
okay so $0.55 is per pound
yes
now we r shipping p pounds for each pound they will take $0.55 to make our concepts clear we say that we are gonna put the p pounds in a sack and give them to the company to ship now we slowly keep adingd 1pound of the pet supplies till the weight equals p pounds ok till now?
ohh okay :)
tell this- can we say that the number of 1 pound bags that we wuld have to add will be equal to p?
the cost to ship is $0.55/pound the cost 'c' to ship p pounds will be \[c=p \times $0.55\] we need to find the cost if p=2pounds so we just put p=2 in our equation \[c=2 \times 0.55\] \[c=$1.1\] Now they say that the company reduced the rate by $0.05 so the new rate will be $0.55-$0.05=$0.5 so 1 pound is being shipped for $0.5 p pounds will be shipped for p times more the cost to ship one pound :) so total cost to ship 1 pound is- \[c=p \times $0.5\]
I got it now!! :)
@imqwerty
