Please help Algebra 2 Perform the indicated operation. (2x + y)(3x2 + y)
i got 3x^2y+6x^3+y^2+2xy for the answer. i am not 100% it is right though @phi @Nnesha
if you have time, see https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra-basics/quadratics-polynomials-topic/multiplying-binomials-core-algebra/v/multiplying-binomials
ive seen that already but i still cant get this one
have you tried wolframalpha.com
@green_1 it woud have to be something something to the third power
@ParthKohli @Legends @mathmate @welshfella
green did it correctly, but the usual (standard order) is to write the terms starting with the highest exponent first.
in other words, you can order the 4 terms in greens's answer any way you like. but the standard way is to write the order this way \[ 6x^3+3x^2y+2xy+y^2\]
that is alphabetical (so x goes first) biggest exponent down to smallest.
ok thats what i thought it was but i wasnt quite sure
when you add (and we are adding) we can change their order
ok thanks @phi
