OpenStudy (abbycross167):

Write the slope-intercept (y = mx + b) form of the equation from the information given. The line goes through the points (1/2, 3/2) and (-1/4, 5/4) @atreyu6s3x6 and @AbdullahM Can y'all help me? I can't figure this one out at all

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

first we need to find the lope (m). to do this use the slope formula \[\frac{ y_1-y_2 }{ x_1-x_2 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

round two!!!! okay this is basically the same thing we did on the other problem

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

substitute values: (3/2-5/4)/(1/2-(-1/4))=(1/4)/(3/4)=1/4*4/3=1/3 thus slope is 1/3, thus m=1/3

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

So the slope is 1/3?

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

now chose any point and substitute it into the equation with slope to find y intercept: 3/2=1/3*1/2+b 3/2=1/6+b 9/6-1/6=b 8/6=b b=4/3 thus y intercept is 4/3. now knowing that the slope is 1/3 and y intercept is 4/3 we can substitute this into our equation: y=1/3x+4/3

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

everything is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hes right @abbycross167

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

Ok, Awesome! Thank you soo much

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

np :)

OpenStudy (abdullahm):

Seems like Alexander was able to help you :)
