OpenStudy (ondinana):

*Wasn't sure where to ask this.* The right hemisphere of the brain is superior to the left hemisphere in: a.) solving math problems b.) recognizing people's faces c.) understanding simple verbal requests d.) reading a book to a child *If you know someone who could help, PLEASE tag them below!*

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

this might help http://ucmas.ca/our-programs/whole-brain-development/left-brain-vs-right-brain/

OpenStudy (ondinana):

Okay thanks, I'll take a look at it :D

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Tell me what you think

OpenStudy (ondinana):

I think it would be C. Right? Because it talks about the right side being intuitive; and intuition is the ability to immediately understand. And as humans, simple requests are pretty easy to understand at first. Because they're simple. So would that be it? @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

`understanding simple verbal requests` means that the left brain will be involved because words and language are involved (see attached)

OpenStudy (ondinana):

I don't understand what it can be then ;__; I was thinking it could be D after you said that, but the right side deals with non-verbal.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

c and d are similar; they are both left brain

OpenStudy (ondinana):

The left side also deals with analysis, logic and problem solving. So how can it be any of these? o-o

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

A is also left brain B is right brain because of the visual element (see attached)

OpenStudy (ondinana):

Huh, okay. I got thrown off because it also lists Computation under the left side, so I thought B went with that. Like, the left side processing a face

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

http://apps.cignabehavioral.com/web/basicsite/bulletinBoard/leftBrainRightBrain.jsp see attached

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

left side is more structural (language is based on structure, so is math and logic) right side is more creative, free thinking, visual, nonverbal, etc

OpenStudy (ondinana):

Oh, makes sense now lol. Thank you for explaining!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I guess you could make the argument that there is creative writing, so you probably use both sides when doing creative writing
