Question on modeling real-world data

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

need some help?

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

Yes, I do. I'm pretty sure I may know the answer but not positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay what do you think it is?

imqwerty (imqwerty):

this is a boring question i don't even feel like reading it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dude why comment if your not gonna help? i mean wtf? @imqwerty

imqwerty (imqwerty):

i cmnt cause i can B)

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

Right? Just ignore him. Haha. I feel like it has to have "-337" in it but I can't tell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dbag XD and alright, well give me a sec

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

Thanks! I know it's in regard to regression for sure and there's a lot of those out there hahaha

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

Hint: the question said "as a function of the number of years since 1990" What do u think is the range for x?

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

is it A?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

hahahaaa u ARE smart, sammie :) Right on! Good job!!

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

I kind of figured it was 123 but wasn't sure. Thank you both!

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

welcome - i didnt do much. u figured it out on ur own @sammietaygreen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh damn good job haha sorry i had to do something.. lol

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

It's fine! I appreciate it anyway, both of you.

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

Could you both possibly help me with one more question of similar topic?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

i can try :)

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

oh this is hard - u actually have to DO some calculations lol

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

I know! Where do I start?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

first - note that question is set up the same as last: function of the number of years since 1990. So u should set up a table with the proper x values first.

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

Okay, is it possible to use my graphing calc since my teacher said to do so?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

yes, u will need a calc or excel or go online to DO the regression but u still need to set up the table correctly first.

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

give me one sec

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

ugh I can't get it

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

What happened?

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

Like I don't understand it enough to completely plot it out.

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

What exactly do u not understand? No need to plot it out for now; just set up the table first ok?

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

Okay, do I just do an x, y table?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

yup yup

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

then i will show u a really cool thing...actually 2 things :)

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

would the year be x, and population be y?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

sure

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

okay.. so what then?

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

ooops sorry - lunch time! u have the x-y values set up in a table now?

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

yes
