If you don't have a specific problem, but want some help, see https://www.khanacademy.org/math/pre-algebra/fractions-pre-alg/fractions-unlike-denom-pre-alg/v/adding-and-subtracting-fractions and the other videos in this section.

4+a/a-3+4/5=

OpenStudy (phi):

do you mean \[ \frac{4+a}{a-3} + \frac{4}{5} \] ? if so , the common denominator is 5(a-3) multiply the first fraction by 5/5 and multiply the 2nd fraction by (a-3)/(a-3) like this: \[ \frac{4+a}{a-3}\cdot \frac{5}{5} + \frac{4}{5}\cdot \frac{a-3}{a-3} \] both fractions now have the same denominator, which is, 5(a-3) add the numerators.
