What is the solution to the equation https://static.k12.com/bank_packages/files/media/mathml_dc5a6d269fe73c1b466c16416a5e9ec78ab65965_1.gif? n =

@mathstudent55

OpenStudy (greengalaxy):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (greengalaxy):

I got -34?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

for such a small equation, youd think it would be simpler to type it in .... but if your on phone or tablet i spose not

OpenStudy (greengalaxy):

sorry i can try to

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i get half of 38

OpenStudy (amistre64):

multiply by 3, add over 2 .. and divide in half

OpenStudy (amistre64):

or, divide in half, add over 1/6, and multiply by 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-19 Multiply each side by 3 -2n - 2 = 36 Move -2 to the RHS. -2n = 38 Can you continue from here ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

pfft, multiply over by 6 that is ... mental math is not so great at my age

OpenStudy (greengalaxy):

So 2x3 = 6 I move the -2 two to the other side So its 6?

OpenStudy (greengalaxy):

Oops okay thats wrong

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(-2n-2)/3 = 12 3*(-2n-2)/3 = 12*3 -2n-2+2 = 12*3+2 -2n = 12*3 +2 etc....

OpenStudy (greengalaxy):

Oh I think I see now, so resuming from where you left off. 12*3 = 36 + 2 = 38 Now I need to get N alone by moving the -2 to the side that the 38 is on

OpenStudy (greengalaxy):

and when i divide that i get -19

OpenStudy (amistre64):

correct, so lets divide it off, since its multiplied to n

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good

OpenStudy (greengalaxy):

n =-19 then..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Congratulations.

OpenStudy (greengalaxy):

Thank you so much for helping me understand this! (At least im pretty sure its -19)

OpenStudy (greengalaxy):

Thank you guys, im going to give a medal then close this.
