Three functions are given below: f(x), g(x), and h(x). Explain how to find the axis of symmetry for each function, and rank the functions based on their axis of symmetry (from smallest to largest). I think I know one of them but not the other two, Ill post a picture of the stuff in the comments
@Nnesha
I believe the axis of symmetry for f(x) is 4, but I dont know about the others
the x-coordinate of the vertex = axis of symmetry \[\rm y=a(x-h)^2+k\] vertex form equation where (h,k) is the vertex h= axis of symmetry if the given equation in standard form then use the formula \[\rm x=\frac{-b}{2a}\] to find x-coordinate of vertex (axis of symm.)
so -b is the second term right? so that would be\[X=\frac{ -10 }{ 2\times5 }\]
looks good
so the axis of symmetry for g(x) is -1?
correcto
How would I find the axis with a parabola
just an equation because I dont want to get the answer easily
on the previous post we discussed max/min = vertex so what's the vertex point of that parabola ?
I believe it is -2 Im not too sure how to find the vertex
|dw:1446058604924:dw|
|dw:1446058612161:dw| what is x and y value at red dot ?
