15 + 9 + (-9) (an example pls)

Opposite numbers cancel out. For example, 10 + 5 + (-5) is 10, because if you take it from left to right, 10+5=15, and 15+(-5)=10.

Opposite numbers are pairs of numbers like 5 and -5, or 4 and -4, that are the name number but one is positive and one negative. If you add both of these together, you get 0, because adding a negative is the same as subtracting. Therefore, x + opposite numbers is like x + 0, so the answer is x.
