Teresa and Elaine want to know who reads more pages per hour. Teresa keeps track of the number of pages she reads in a graph, and Elaine keeps track of how many pages she reads in a table. How many pages per hour does each girl read, and who reads at a faster rate? Teresa: pages per hour Elaine: pages per hour The person who reads faster is: (Type T for Teresa or E for Elaine)

Since Teresa uses the graph - you can translate that to what Elaine is using. X is Time and Y is Pages read
if easier, just take one point from each graph to determine pages per hour
Elaine - 84 pgs in 3 hours = 84/3 = 28 Teresa 48 pgs in 2 hours = 48/2 = 24
oh thanks
but why do we need to divide it?
So you can get # of pages PER hour... They give you TOTAL pages read and the time - divide to get the pages PER hour
ah, okay. I get it now. :) ty
