Lincoln was assassinated after the Civil War.

Civil started in April 21,1861 and ended in April 9, 1865

Lincoln was assassinated on April 15th, 1865

So he was killed a few days after the Civil war ended

Lincoln was re-elected in 1864. So do you think that his second term was "almost over" in 1865?
