Choose one of the following topics for your narrative essay.

In the short story, "The Cask of Amontillado," the reader is never told what the exact insult was that caused Montresor to seek revenge against Fortunato. Write to tell what happened before the story begins in "The Cask of Amontillado."

In the short story, "The Cask of Amontillado," the reader is never told what becomes of Montresor after he completes his plot against Fortunato. Write to tell what happened after the story ends in "The Cask of Amontillado."

I'm super excited about this assignment because writing is my favorite! But I can't decide whether to do option 1 or option 2. Kind of leaning towards option 2, because I could write about how Montresor spiraling into madness after killing Fortunato. Option 1 might be fun though because you would be writing insults. Which would you do? I need help deciding! :)

I would choose option 1, personally. I think a lot of fun vocabulary could potentially be used here and would give the writing a lot of color.

I would also favor option one, it's easier (for me at least) to make up a beginning of a story than it is to make up an ending of a story.
