In a pool of water with the volume of 200 liter, water is going in the pool at 2/5 liter per minute and there's a hole draining the water 1/4 liter per minute. How long would it take to fill up the pool?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

so 2/5 is 0.4 and 1/4 = 0.25 so every minute you are adding 0.15 litres to the pool. so take the total volume 200 litres and divide it by 0.15 that will give the number of minutes needed to fill the pool.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

200 divide it by 0.15 is 1333.3333, so it would take 1333 minute?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well it would actually take 1334 minutes... because if you stop at 1333 minutes, you are short of a full pool...
