Charles was a poor ruler. He lied to parliment, among other things. So there was Civil War. Parliment asgainst king. He lost and was beheaded. Oliver Cromwell and parliment ruled England for 10 years.

Elizabeth was human and humans die. That's the cause. When she died James became King of England. He already had been King of Scotland for 36 years. So that united the two countries and began the Stuart line of kings.
