Use the sum-to-product formulas to write the given expression as a product. sin4θ - sin2θ

OpenStudy (a1234):

I came up with 2 cos (6θ/2) sin (2θ/2). Is there any more simplifying to do, or is this it?

OpenStudy (a1234):

@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes you can simplify the 6θ/2 to get 3θ and 2θ/2 to get 1θ or just θ

OpenStudy (a1234):

So it's 2 cos 3θ sinθ ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct

OpenStudy (a1234):

Thanks!

notice how the graphs match up perfectly https://www.desmos.com/calculator/2tgjrnioha click the graph icon for each function to turn it on/off. You'll see how the blue curve is right on top of the red curve

OpenStudy (a1234):

Yup
