James is an American farmer from Maryland who lost his farm and saw his brother killed in the War of 1812. When James hears about the Treaty of Ghent, what is his likely reaction and why? He is excited because Canada still belongs to Britain in the treaty. He is angry because the U.S. has not benefited from the treaty. He is upset the treaty did not establish an American Indian homeland. He is happy because the treaty gives New Orleans to the French.
