How do I find the volume and the surface area of this figure? http://prntscr.com/8x7eet

OpenStudy (radar):

Tell us more, since all the answers are in inches, can we assume those individual cubes are supposed to represent 1 cu. in.???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand... I have the same information that you have.

Back to the first figure where Volume is the question, assuming those are 1 inch cubes, just count them, I counted 36 or 36 cubic inches is the volume. Your second sreen shot is asking for surface area.

OpenStudy (radar):

For the second figure, where "surface area" is the question, you must sum up all of the faces of the figure. There are normally 6 faces for a rectangular prism.

OpenStudy (radar):

Surface Area = areas of front, back, left side, right side, top side and bottom side all added together.

OpenStudy (radar):

Good luck with your studies.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

the above is correct. the surface area is also the perimeter of the base * the height
