So @Leenz You know at that time everybody thought the planet was flat. But this discovery of him in actually being in bahamas rather than Asia proved that then Earth was not Flat

Actually, at the time many informed scientists and Columbus himself knew that the Earth was not actually flat, it's a kind of myth that people widely believed that at the time. But it is true that he didn't estimate the size of the earth correctly. I don't remember exactly what it was, but I think Columbus believed that Asia was only about 2k miles away using the western route, instead of the 10k it is.
