The art of cartography is complex. When creating a map cartographers must determine their purpose, choose specific features and elements to include on the map and decide which landforms on the map to distort. A. Specific parts of the map above are labeled A–E. The labels are used to identify important elements found on most maps. Study the labeled areas of the map. Identify each of the labeled elements on the map and explain what information that element gives. B. Explain how features on the map are distorted and attribute the distortions to a specific projection.
