OpenStudy (izzy18970):

If I have a 61 in a class and I get a 97 on a test what would my grade be? Tests are 60% of our grade

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

hmm you mean that if you have 61 test, you get 97% on each test what grade you will have?

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

yeah

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

actually wait

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

what's your overall test average so far?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

to figure this out, we would need to know what grades you've gotten on your other tests, then average them in

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

but looks like you will get 85+ grade

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

I have had 2 tests so far one i got a 90 and the other I was absent so the teacher gave me a zero

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

So what would my grade be?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

well, your 3 tests are: 97,0,and 90, so that averages together to get 62.33 62.3(0.60) + 61(0.40) = 61.78 can you try and make up the test? D:

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

Nope the teacher wont let me

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

What would my overall grade be?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

61.78

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

if it weren't for that 0 it would be a lot higher :(

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

But my grade right now is a 61.26 so if I get a 97 and tests are 60% of my grade; what would my grade be now?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

you have 3 tests, 90,97, and 0. that averages to get 62.33 tests are 60%, so (0.6)(62.33) + (0.4)(61.26) = 61.9

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

the reason why it's not higher is because of that 0 test

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

your grade would be 61.9

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

But shouldn't it go higher if I get a 97.

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

nope, I just did the math.

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

I already averaged in the 97

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

oh well thank you
