Look at the following function: x y –3 –8 –2 –6 –1 –4 0 0 Matt said that the function is linear. Justine said that the function is nonlinear. Which of the following explains who is correct? (1 point) Matt, because for every 1-unit increase in x, there is an increase in y by 2 Matt, because for every 2-unit increase in x, there is an increase in y by 1 Justine, because the point (–3, –8) does not lie on the straight line that contains the other points Justine, because the point (0, 0) does not lie on the straight line that contains the other points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oneeee moreeeeee pleaseeeeee my answer was the Third one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im poretty sure its C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeaa i was thinking that too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is my question right? my answer was C @Directrix

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean my answer

Directrix (directrix):

I think that option C is not correct. I wish you two would have given a reason as to why you chose C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its C bro lol, the pattern is messed up :P

Directrix (directrix):

lol, the pattern is messed up --> What does that mean? The slope of the line on which (-3,-8) and (-2,-6) is the same as the slope of the line on which the points (-2,-6) and (-1,-4) lie. I don't see anything messed up about that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this aint my question lol u aint needa question me... Hold up u may have changed my mind, the pattern isnt messed up, i was just thinking of timing everything by 2... But A and B cant be right because it says the # increases, but the #s are negative, and D cant be right because (0,0) has nun to do with the problem

Directrix (directrix):

Look at the graph. It is not (-3, -8) that is off the line. It is (0,0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait i was reading the graph from bottom to top... yeah ur right, its A

Directrix (directrix):

>this aint my question lol u aint needa question me... Mathematics is all about why something is true. You made a statement and I asked why. That is natural in mathematics.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait... it cant be A either...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah true, but i never answer extras :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait... its D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im changing my answer too much xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im 100% its D tho

Directrix (directrix):

Look at the graph I posted. D) Justine, because the point (0, 0) does not lie on the straight line that contains the other points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, sorry Samirah xD

Directrix (directrix):

@Samirah16 Come on down. This is your problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well thank you guys you really know your stuff :)

Directrix (directrix):

You are welcome from both of us.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Soooo the answer is D right just making sure?

Directrix (directrix):

D) Justine, because the point (0, 0) does not lie on the straight line that contains the other points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Directrix: "Why do you think the answer is D?"

Directrix (directrix):

It messed up the pattern.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know im joking with u, i just took ur own words from ur mouth :P

Directrix (directrix):

We are finished here. Good job, everyone.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm finna submit my assignment now hopefully i get them all right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gj

Directrix (directrix):

Well, we don't guarantee our work although we do try our best.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ik thank you though i was lost

Directrix (directrix):

Alrighty, then. Catch you both later on OS.
