Would is be something like (-4 * x) + 16 = (-116)?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

I think it would be something like that...

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Do you know how to solve that...?

OpenStudy (toloaf):

-4x+16=-116 take away 16 from both sides -4x=-132 divide both sides by -4 x=33

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Awesome, but is what @flowaei correct? is that really the word problem translated?

OpenStudy (toloaf):

Yes, it is. Kinda strange format, though. I'd just go with -4x+16=-116 but I dunno.

MsBrains (ms-brains):

@Directrix Please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@toloaf is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because the first part is -4 times a number, so you would write -4x (x being the unknown number) then the next part is plus 16 so you would add 16 to that side -4x + 16 then that all adds up to -116 so the equation would be -4x + 16 = -116. After that you would subtract 16 from both sides and get -4x = -132. After that you would then divide by -4 on both sides to get x by itself, resulting in x = 33.

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Oh.. okay, Thanks @Lexie.Quinn

you're welcome @Ms-Brains
