The Japanese Yen is the currency in Japan. Its symbol is ¥. If 100¥ equals $1.24, how many dollars does 450¥ equal? I actually have no idea how to do this at all so can someone at least help me set it up?
It's easier to deal with the number 1 so do you know how to find out how what the USD equivalent of 1 yen is?
No I don't understand how $1.24 is equivalent to 1. Could you help me with that and then I can do the other part if I understand?
I'm not saying that 1 yen is = $1.24
The problem states that 100 yen = $1.24. I'm asking if you can tell me what 1 yen would equal to in USD
Oh, yeah see I don't understand this at all then lol
If 100 yen = 1.24 1 yen = ?
If you're confused as to how to figure that out, look at it this way How many 1 yen goes into 100 yens?
100 I'm guessing
Right and you can figure that out by dividing 100 by 1 to find out how many 1 yen goes into 100 yens
Is 1 yen $0.0124 ?
nice
Oh so is 450 Yen $4.50?
So knowing that 1 yen = 0.0124 How can you figure out 450 yen = ?
No, you don't divide 450 by 100
Aww man I thought I had it lol
Is it $5.58 because you multiply 0.0124 by 450 yen?
nice, and do you understand why that's multiplied?
Yeah I think so, because if 1 yen is $0.0124 and you need to know 450 yen then you need to multiply that 450 times?
you got it
Thank you so much!! :)
