OpenStudy (wes_is_here):

The distance driven in miles is proportional to the time driven in hours. Ebony drives at a constant rate and plots her progress on a coordinate plane. The point (3, 180) is plotted. At what rate is Ebony driving in miles per hour? A)40 mph B)50 mph C)60 mph D)70 mph

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Okai so Rate= distance divided by time

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Here the independent variable is time and the dependent variable is the distance

OpenStudy (wes_is_here):

?

|dw:1446473443412:dw|

OpenStudy (rushwr):

X is the independent variable therefore X is time Y is the dependent variable therefore Y is distance. Usually when you write a point of a graph the first is X and then Y (X,Y) Therefore here X= 3 Y= 180 I said earlier that X= time Y= distance Therefore Distance = 180 miles Time = 3 hours. So now find the rate.

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Rate= distance/ time = 180/3 = 60mph

OpenStudy (wes_is_here):

c

OpenStudy (rushwr):

yeah that's right

OpenStudy (wes_is_here):

thank u
