OpenStudy (flvskidd):

Anyone know f(x) and g(x)??

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

I don't need the answer I just want someone to walk me through it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Replace every occurrence of "x" in the RHS of f(x), with 5x^2 - 1, and then simplify.

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

Okay I understand. Would it be x^2 as well or only x's without exponents?

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

so would it be 3x^2 - (5x^2 -1) +2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A solution using Mathematica is attached. Mathematica does no leave algebraic expressions in class room order.

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

Was the form that I just put correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The x in the term, 3x^2, also has to be replaced with 5x^2 - 1 .

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

okay so it's 3(5x^2-1)^2 - (5x^2-1) + 2

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

@robtobey

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@FLVSKidd okay so it's 3(5x^2-1)^2 - (5x^2-1) + 2 ? Yes. Congratulations.
