I think the funny part is the `other side of the universe`. Which side? The universe expands infinitely in all directions. There is no "other side" if it goes on and on. Saying "the other side" puts a bound on a boundless space :)

Or perhaps you're referring to the other side of time, given that the universe is situated in space-time, a joint idea rather than two separate ideas. Interesting thought indeed. How could we even think about what's on another side of 'time'? Time goes on and on as well, also being boundless. But there must have been a beginning? So what was before that? Hehe
