What part of speech is the italicized word in the sentence below? Four score and seven years ago, our forefathers brought forth upon this continent a new nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. adjective conjunction adverb preposition verb

OpenStudy (anonymous):

forth is italicized

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's an adverb because the continent is being brought forward (forth def.) and that would be considered modifying a verb. (adverb def. you probably already knew)

OpenStudy (spring98):

I think that @kaylie.sullivan is right because I researched it and found that the only right answer would be that. (adverb) :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would suggest that it is an adjective as it is supplying part of the amount of years, that with four and seven is in effect saying 87 years ago,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the word is forth, not four ^ "the world brought FORTH upon this continent"

thanks
