The scientific method has to be approached with the sufficient amount of evidence to derive into a conclusion most likely explaining what is going on for the campers.
A theory is a body of facts (facts being the unit of information) that is well backed up and constantly put to test. A theory is a model with predictive power, mostly in science (not confuse with mathematics). Now a hypothesis is a proposed "model" which requires the sufficient amount of evidence and testing in order to become a "theory".
So what would be making them sick?
@Owlcoffee
The images gives us the fact, we are first given a theory, which explains the parasite of Giardia, then the hypothetical model of the campers having drinked the water from the stream and also a microscopic image of the Giardia parasite on a patient, this MIGHT allow us to conclude that the campers actually do suffer from Giardia. On the other hand we have theory of the Trichina worm giving patient Trichinosis. The proposed model that the clampets did not properly cook the bear thereby leaving some worms on the flesh and evidence of the existance of these worms in the biopsies of on of the clampets. In this excercise, you might want to research a little about these two parasites, then evaluate the text that describes the scenario, compare the given theories and hypothesis and argumentate which conclusion you took and back it up.
Thanks that helped me out, would you accept some bucks :P
No no no, it's enough with helping you. Keep on studying!
