Jose is purchasing 4 dress shirts that cost $28 each and 2 pairs of pants that cost $38 each. The items are all on sale for 35% off. How much money will Jose save by purchasing them on sale instead of at full price? Can someone help me step by step
What do you know as the first step?
to find the cost of everything right
Yes. Please do that.
okay hold on
shirts in all are 112 pants are 76
Good. Now, add all of that together and get?
188
Now, how do you find out how much he saved knowing it has 35% discount?
188-35%
Know how to make a decimal from a percentage?
you move the . two spaces to the left
I'm being attentive here. Can you do the same?
Yes. 188*0.35 is?
65.8?
If that is what your calculator says. You got to trust your calculator. Check it twice to confirm.
okay :)
yes that is what it says
Good. Can you summarize what we just did?
To find how much hey owed buy adding the tottal of how much the clothes cost, by adding them together. Then we found the discount by taking the tottal of clothes and multiplying it by the % we changed into a decimal.
Yes, but you multiplied the clothes and then added together and then multipled by percent to get savings. Good job!
right thank you so much for your help
Remember, when you see a sign that says % off... just multiply it by the purchase price and subtract it by that price. Or, simply take the total ... like 10% off, then multiply purchase price by 90% to get new price.
thank you you are a lot of help.!!!
You're welcome. God bless.
You aswell :)
