The Magna Carta force the king to lower taxes.
When King John was forced to sign the Magna Carta, that document destroyed the myth that a king was accountable to no one. As he was God's Representative and above man's law.The carta clearly defined the Three Estates, the Crown. The Church and the People.Of course more 450 years later the Founding Fathers improved a lot on the Magna Carta. As did all of the other democracies ruling at the time.
