World History - The Crusades This is the Assignment: Imagine that you are a serf living in the 11th century. You and a neighbor serf are working your plots of land and get into a discussion about the Catholic Church and its impact on your lives. You are critical of the Church while your friend is a proponent of their ways. Write a 600-750-word dialogue in which you discuss the economic and spiritual impact the Church has had on your lives. Can someone just summarize how a critical and a proponent would view the Christian Church please?
I don't want the assignment written for me or anything, just an explanation of what a critical and proponent of the Christian Church is. Thanks!

The economic and spiritual impact the Church has had on my life can be summed up in the 11th century as follows: If I proclaim that I'm not Christian, then the local clerics are commanded to have me killed, usually by burning at the stake. So I dare not express my skepticism for the childish Christian beliefs and the absurd tales in the Bible. Christianity, after all, has been the only legal religion since the year 391.
I assume this is the critical point of view. Okay, I think I get it now, thank you.
