Ok so the first thing to keep in mind is that Elements are composed purely of one kind of Atom. For example: Oxygen alone is an element. But Air is not an Element, because although it has Oxygen which is an element, Air has other elements and molecules such as carbon-dioxide, nitrogen, helium, and etc. So some metals are elements such as Gold and Silver, but water is made up of oxygen and hydrogen atoms and earth is made up of all kinds of rocks and metals with different atoms.
