9. The mean of a data set is 7.8, the mode is 6.6, and the median is 6.8. What is the least possible number of data values in the set? A) 3 data sets B) 4 data sets C) 5 data sets D) 6 data sets 10. The lengths of the eletrical exension cords in a workshop are 6ft, 8ft, 25ft, 8ft, 12ft, 50ft, and 25 ft. What are the mean, median, mode and range of the lengths of the cords in inches?
For Your Consideration: Solution courtesy of @BobE and @Ab We know the mode is the most common number so lets say we have 2 of them. If we have 3 numbers, the median is the second number in the ordered data set. Either 6.6, 6.6, x or 4, 6.6, 6.6 Either way the median is 6.6 but we want 6.8. So we have 4 numbers. Median is the average of 2nd and 3rd number To find the mean (6.6 + 6.6 + 7 +x)/4 = 7.8 4th number = 11
