OpenStudy (shelby1290):

Factor 625-(k-5)^2

OpenStudy (baru):

clue: \(625=25^2\)

OpenStudy (baru):

\(a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)\)

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

√625 = 25 √25k^2=5k (25+5k)(25-5k) @baru like that?

OpenStudy (baru):

\(625-(k-5)^2\\25^2-(k-5)^2\\now ~use ~the~formula~ i~gave\\(25+k-5)(25-k+5)\\(20+k)(30-k)\)

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

how did 625 turn into 25?

OpenStudy (baru):

625 turned into \(25^2\)

OpenStudy (baru):

because \(25 \times 25 =625\)

OpenStudy (baru):

which step exactly is confusing you?

OpenStudy (baru):

@shelby1290

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

oh i was thinking that you got 25 from doing 625 divided by 25 and then somehow you carried over the power of 2

OpenStudy (baru):

i just re-wrote 625 as \(25^2\) so that i can use the formula \(a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)\) i substituted a=25 b=k-5

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

ahhhhh okay i see!
