What was the Spanish Flu? What were the symptoms? When did it take place?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Spanish Flu was a major epidemic that occurred from 1918-1920, where influenza killed more people in one year than the Bubonic Plague did in four. It killed predominantly young and healthy people, unlike most others that kill children, the sick, and the elderly. It originally presented as the typical flu, with more seadly symptoms presenting themselves later on in the epidemic.
