WILL GIVE METAL AND FAN | Green communities are springing up all over the nation. In some cases, communities have decided to go green after a natural disaster. An example of this is Greensburg, Kansas. This town chose to rebuild an entirely green town after a tornado destroyed 95 percent of it in 2007. Similarly, Hurricane Katrina destroyed much of New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward in Louisiana. The Make It Right project then took on the challenge of building environmentally sound houses that would be able to handle the flooding that had destroyed the area. Research one of these communities or a different green community. Write an essay that answers the following questions: What inspired this particular community to go green? What allows it to qualify as a green community? What sustainable energy practices are in place? How much did it cost to incorporate the design? How long will it take for the green community to be cost effective? What do you think the advantages of this community are? Do you see any disadvantages?
