slavery question Why did the south resist change, unlike the North?

The south was mostly farming lands, and they basically had free labor for their farms. Freeing the slaves would mean they would have to pay for labor and they would have to raise prices for their goods and everything. The North wasn't really used for farming and manual labor so they didn't have that big of a resistance
