Joan is the owner of a shop that sells spices. The cost of a certain spice is $6 for 4 ounces. At that rate, how much would she have to pay for 3 pounds of that spice? (1 pound = 16 ounces) $68.00 $72.00 $70.00 $74.00

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

3 pounds = 3*16 ounces = 48 ounces 6$ -> 4 ?$ -> 48 Notice that you have to multiply by 12.

what would it be though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

16 ounce=1 pound. 6 dollars=4 ounces so 16/4=4 . Multiply 6 by 4 because 6 dollars per 4 pounds so it's 24 multiply by 3 you get 72 dollars
