classify the following elements as alkali, alkaline earth metals, transition elements, or inner transitional elements: calcium, gold, iron, magnesium, plutonium, potassium, sodium, and uranium

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

That's a easy question but the rule sys I cannot just give you the answer, so the hint is that the position of these elements on the periodic table defines what kind of element they are

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

e.g Na is group I metal, therefore is alkali

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so potassium is an alkali metal, correct?

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sodium is an alkali, right?

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

Yes, and Group Ii are called alkali earth, B groups are transition, I don't know the exact definition of innate transition though cuz I don't study inorganic in great detail

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Calcium - alkali earth metals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks
