Actually, I believe that a man named John Joseph Merlin invented inline skating. For he was experimenting with devices worn on feet in 1780, ALSO (this is extra, not sure if you will need this) later on another type of skates were also invented by a man named Louis Legrange of France in 1849. He created skates specifically supposed to be worn in warm weather. Hope this helps!

1863: James Plimpton invents the quad skate and roller skate manufacturers nearly abandon inlines. 1905: John Jay Young creates an inline adjustable roller skate. 1966: Chicago Roller Skate Company manufactures their inline boot skate. 1980: Scott and Brennan Olson found Rollerblade, Inc.
